After briefly showing it in a few frames in some other videos, the day of the official presentation has arrived! Here is the new budget-friendly camera from the StenopeiKa lineup: the Air Force 8×10.
As you may have noticed, this camera is the big sister of the Air Force 4×5, which I introduced last year, and shares some features with the majestic Air Force 11×14, launched just a few months ago. The new Air Force family has proven to be a true platform on which to build practically all existing (and non-existing) formats on the market, so the 8×10 format couldn’t be missing.
What makes the Air Force 8×10 truly special is its new structure. To an untrained eye, it may seem like a copy of the previous camera, but upon closer inspection (and for this, I invite you to watch the video), it’s an entirely different camera. First of all, the rear part of the camera has been completely redesigned to ensure greater rigidity and stability during your photographic sessions. Not only that, in the front part, I’ve also added a direct lateral shift movement that will allow you to achieve even more precision in composing your images. Furthermore, precise focusing has been moved from the rear to the front, for even simpler and more accurate focus management, and, most importantly, it’s more convenient because you won’t have to remove the loupe from the ground glass when you’re in the fine focus phase.
But if that were the only improvement, it would be insufficient. In fact, I wanted to go all out and added an additional 5 cm of maximum extension, reaching a total of 75 cm, setting a new record for a field camera.

Dopo averla fatta vedere per qualche fotogramma in qualche altro video il giorno della presentazione ufficiale è arrivato! Ecco qua la nuova fotocamera economica della linea StenopeiKa: la Air Force 8×10.
Come avrai avuto modo di vedere questa fotocamera è la sorella maggiore della Air Force 4×5, che ho presentato lo scorso anno, e condivide alcune caratteristiche con la maestosa Air Force 11×14, lanciata solo pochi mesi fa. La nuova famiglia Air Force si è dimostrata essere una vera e propria piattaforma sul quale costruire praticamente tutti i formati esistenti sul mercato (e non) e quindi non poteva mancare il formato 8×10.
Ciò che rende la Air Force 8×10 davvero speciale è la sua nuova struttura. Ad un occhio non esperto potrebbe sembrare la copia della fotocamera precedente ma a guardare bene (e per questo ti invito a guardare il video) si tratta una fotocamera completamente diversa. Innanzi tutto la parte posteriore della fotocamera è stata completamente riprogettata per garantire maggiore rigidezza e stabilità durante le tue sessioni fotografiche. Non solo, nella parta anteriore ho anche aggiunto un movimento di decentramento laterale diretto che ti permetterà di ottenere ancora più precisione nella composizione delle tue immagini. Ed inoltre la messa a fuoco di precisione è stata spostata dalla parte posteriore alla parte anteriore, per una gestione del fuoco ancora più semplice e accurata, ma soprattutto ancora più comoda perchè non dovrai togliere la lupe dal vetro smerigliato quando sei in fase di fuoco fine.
Ma se fosse solo questo sarebbe poco, infatti ho voluto esagerare ed ho anche aggiunto ben 5 cm di estensione massima in più arrivando a 75 cm di estensione, ovvero un record per una fotocamera da campo.
